About

Giovanna Avila. Hair and Makeup Artist

Specializing in flawless natural beauty makeup and hair design.

Hi!

I am LA raised artist, originally from Acapulco, and perused my Hawaii life since 2015. I travel often, specially to LA every month for various clients so don’t hesitate to reach out. I started to play hairdresser since I was 8 and pursued my hairstyling career almost 10 yrs later while in high school. Crazy right??!! I did go to college and studied Architecture, that was something I loved but nothing could take me away from working in the Beauty Industry so I finally had to choose one and go ALL IN. I am so glad I did. I feel like the luckiest person to be able to follow my dreams while I help other women, and men reach theirs. So honored!

Thank you for taking the time to check out my site.I work with beauty brands, and bride-to-be to make your beauty dreams come true!

Looking forward to connecting!

Born in Acapulco, Mexico. Raised in Los Angeles, California. Currently living it up on Maui, Hawaii.

I am so grateful and fortunate to do what I love for a living.

At 8 years old I learned to do a fishtail braid. I quickly learned I wanted to be a hairdresser when I grew up. My mom,has always inspired me to work towards what I want and she supported my dreams to attend beauty school. She is very loving and hardworking single mother raised my brother, sister and me on her own. She was and always be my inspiration. That woman has so much love, passion and determination for fill up the universe! I hope to one day harnest her superpower. I wouldn’t be able to do what love if not for her continued love and support, she has always believed in me and pushed me to create the life I want.

I worked towards my dream since I was 14 and worked hard to attended beauty school during my junior year in high school. After graduating early from both high school and beauty school in 2002 and obtaining my license in cosmetology I continued following my passion in the beauty industry. I loved architecture and decided to study part time to get a college degree. Growing up, obtaining a degree was important , although I didn’t obtain my degree I learned a lot that helped me shape my career in the beauty industry. My love for art and design continued to inspire me and my hair design. I started working in upscale beauty salons and freelanced for photoshoots, music videos, fashion shows and fashion editorials which has allowed me to develop a portfolio I never imagined possible as a child and one that I am very proud of. I have been so fortunate to work with so many amazing clients and continue to do what I love.

I guess you can say the secret to my success is continued education and showing up!

In 2011, I became the makeup and hair artist of choice for Graffiti Beach and Swoop Magazine, contributing my talent and skills for several covers and promotional material. Shortly after, I became the Beauty Director for Graffiti Beach Magazine and was a part of many creative teams for their photoshoots. Since then I have been a part of many creative teams, working on many beauty campaigns, commercials, and fashions advertising campaigns. I am grateful for the artist and photographers I get to create art with and all my clients that continue to support and refer me to future bookings. It’s been a wild and fun ride!

I truly love what I do and as a “recovering workaholic” I can now enjoy other things other than work - and that was probably the hardest thing to do. I can finally say I have found more work life balance. I still rather be on set than on the beach but now live in Hawaii and travel to LA for work and it helps to have time away and recharge. I get to travel often and spend time with family and friends.

I can't wait to share more with you soon, I will be starting a blog to share some behind the scenes whenever possible.Come back often as I am working of wonderful projects this year! :)

Living my dream since 2000. Forever Grateful.
